RULES AND REGULATION
Please read this section very carefully. Any runner not adhering to any of the following rules is subject to disqualification or
penalty.
QUALIFICATION
- Age Requirement: Participants must be 18 years of age or older on race day. Participants under 18 years old require parental or guardian permission.
- Health Condition: Participants must be in good health and capable of completing the race without navigational assistance.
- Registration Approval: The Organizer reserves the exclusive right to approve or deny registration. This includes the right to grant exceptions to qualification criteria under careful consideration.
- Prior Trail Race Completion (Mandatory for Certain Distances): Participants for the following race distances must have completed a trail race of the minimum specified distance:
TERM AND CONDITIONS
- Runner Responsibility for Health: All runners are solely responsible for ensuring they are medically fit to participate in this event.
- Acceptance of Race Challenge: Runners acknowledge that the race route is designed to be challenging and appropriate for similar races.
- Understanding of Emergency Response: Runners understand that medical response times during emergencies may be delayed due to the natural environment of the race.
- No Liability for Personal Belongings: Runners agree that the organizer and sponsors will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to personal belongings.
- Organizer’s Right to Course Changes: Runners understand and accept that the organizer reserves the right to make necessary changes to the published race course.
- Organizer’s Right to Modify or Cancel Event: Runners understand and accept that the race organizer has the right to change the date or cancel the event due to unforeseen circumstances beyond their control.
REFUND POLICY
- Cancellation and Refunds: Race registration cancellations are not permitted once the registration is approved and payment has been processed. Running with another participant’s bib will result in disqualification.
- Upgrading Race Category: Upgrades to a higher race category are permitted during the registration period, subject to availability. To upgrade, please register and pay the difference in fee between your original registration and the desired higher category.
- Downgrading Race Category: Downgrades to a lower race category are permitted during the registration period, subject to availability. To downgrade, please register for the desired lower category and notify us via email of the downgrade. Please note that no refund will be provided for the difference in registration fees.
EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE & CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS
- Emergency Assistance: If you encounter an injured or ill runner or staff member during the race who cannot move independently, your priority should be to assist them by informing race staff immediately.
- Respect for the Environment and Others: The race takes place within a national park and other public/private properties. Please be considerate and share the trails with all other users at all times.
- Property Respect: Do not damage any property located along the race course.
AID STATIONS & OUTSIDE SUPPORT
- Aid Station Provisions: Food and drinks will be available at designated Water and Aid Stations. Please refer to the Course Map for their specific locations.
- Aid Station Access: The provisions at the aid stations are exclusively for registered racers.
- No Pacers: Non-registered individuals are not permitted to run alongside registered racers (pacers are not allowed).
- No outside Support: Support from family and friends along the course are not permitted.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE DURING RACE
- Runner’s Responsibility and Risk: While the race organizer will arrange for rescue and medical assistance to ensure race safety, each participant acknowledges and understands the inherent risks of injury and accidents associated with trail running. Participation in this race is at your own risk.
- Emergency and First Aid Stations: Emergency and first aid tents, staffed by medical professionals (doctor and/or nurse), will be located at designated aid stations. All aid stations will have radio communication with race headquarters.
- Emergency Services: Emergency rescue procedures will be available for all individuals involved in the race, including racers, staff, and supporters.
- Potential for Delayed Response: Please be aware that emergency medical assistance may take a significant amount of time to reach you depending on your location on the course.
- Post-Race Medical Examination: If you receive emergency medical assistance during the race, it is crucial to undergo a thorough medical examination at a hospital after the race. Please inform the race organizer’s center about your condition following the examination.
- Authority to Withdraw Runners: Doctors and rescue staff have the authority to stop a runner from continuing the race for medical reasons.
- Race Withdrawal: If you choose to drop out of the race, you may proceed on foot via a shorter route back to the finish line at your own discretion.
- Emergency Evacuation and Insurance: Depending on the severity of your condition, emergency evacuation may be necessary. The cost of such evacuation will be the responsibility of the individual being rescued. All racers are required to obtain adequate travel insurance coverage for the duration of their stay.
RACE COURSE MARKERS
- Marking System: The race course will be clearly marked using red and white marking tapes and directional signs. Race staff will also be positioned along the route for guidance.
- Hazard Markings: Dangerous areas will be marked with yellow and black marking tapes and patrolled by staff to minimize risks.
- Landowner Permission: (Note: Permission has been secured from relevant landowners and property managers for the placement of temporary signs and marking tapes.)
- Marker Placement: Marking tapes will generally be placed on prominent features such as trees, bamboo sticks (in sand dune areas), branches, and bushes, positioned at approximately 50 centimeters (eye level) and typically on the left side of the race route. In situations where left-side placement is not feasible, markers may be placed on the right side.
- Category-Specific Signage: Additional signs will indicate the correct route for each race category. Participants are advised to carefully study both the signs and the course map. Further details will be provided.
- Nighttime Visibility: For sections of the course traversed at night, reflective elements will be added to the marking tapes for enhanced visibility.
- Road Intersections: Racers will be stopped at road intersections and must follow the instructions provided by race staff stationed at these points.
- Temporary Nature of Markings: All signs and markers will be installed shortly before the race and removed immediately afterward.
- Specific Course Sections: Please be aware that there will be designated “no-passing” sections and other areas with specific rules or conditions that participants must adhere to.
DROPPING OUT OF THE RACE
- At an Aid Station: If you decide to withdraw at an aid station, please inform the aid station staff immediately. They will initiate the evacuation process for you.
- Along the Course: If you need to drop out while on the course, please proceed to the nearest aid station (either backtrack to the previous one or continue to the next). If you are unable to move without assistance, please contact the race officials by phone and follow their instructions. Please be aware that the evacuation process may take some time.
- Recommendation: Withdrawing at an official aid station is the most efficient and recommended procedure.
GEAR & EQUIPMENT
Mandatory (All Categories)
- BIB Number: Must be worn visibly on the front of your body at all times during the race. Do not fold, modify, or place it on your running shorts. Ensure it remains visible even if wearing windproof jackets.
- Appropriate Clothing: Suitable apparel and equipment for potential extreme cold weather and rain (e.g., long sleeves, leggings, jacket, mittens, gloves, buff, light raincoat). Assess your individual needs for these conditions.
- Mobile Phone: It is advised to obtain a prepaid local number with a data plan, available at shops near Race Central. If using a different number than the one provided during registration, please inform the organizer.
- Hydration System: Hydration bag, hydro bag, or hydration vest with a minimum capacity of 1.5 liters. This must be filled before the start and can be refilled at water stations. Do not hand-carry water bottles (except while drinking). Keep your hands free for safety. Water bottles must be stored in your bag when not in use.
- Personal Food: Carry your own personal food supplies (e.g., energy gels, bars, chews, powders, dates, bread).
Mandatory (50K & 37K)
- Headlamp: With functional battery + spare battery.
- Spare Light Source: An additional headlamp or torchlight.
- Flashing Reflector Light: To be attached to your backpack and kept on during the night for visibility to vehicles.
- Survival Blanket: Minimum size 1.40m x 2m.
- Whistle.
- Self-Adhesive Elasticized Bandage: Minimum size 100 cm x 6 cm, suitable for use as a bandage or strapping.
- Basic First Aid Kit: Including personal medications (e.g., for allergies).
- Printed Map: For Ultra categories.
- Small Amount of Cash: Recommended to carry a small amount of money in small denominations.
Mandatory (21K)
- Headlamp.
- Whistle.
- Basic First Aid Kit: Including personal medications (e.g., for allergies).
- Small Amount of Cash: Recommended to carry a small amount of money in small denominations.
Highly Recommended (All Categories)
- Suitable apparel and equipment for potential extreme cold weather and rain (long sleeves, leggings, jacket, mittens, gloves, buff, light raincoat).
- Gaiters: Highly useful due to potential sandy and muddy conditions on parts of the course.
- Life, Accident, or Travel Insurance.
Important Note: Please consider this gear and equipment list as essential for your safety rather than simply compulsory items.
DROP BAGS
- Drop bags are available for the 50K and 37K categories.
- Drop bags must be submitted at Race Central no later than one hour before the official start time (flag off).
- A general deposit bag service will be available at Race Central for all race categories.
PROHIBITED ACTIONS
A racer may be disqualified or penalized at any point during the race for any of the following reasons:
- Taking shortcuts or deviating from the marked trails.
- Not carrying all mandatory equipment. Mandatory gear checks will be conducted before the start and after the finish.
- Littering or discarding garbage on the race course.
- Receiving any form of outside support.
- Running with individuals who are not officially registered participants.
- Cheating, including but not limited to using unauthorized transportation, employing substitute runners, or any other unlawful actions.
- Failure to comply with instructions given by official race personnel, including race staff, medical professionals (doctors, nurses), and emergency responders.
- Continuing to race after official cut-off times.
- Engaging in doping or the use of prohibited substances.
RACER RESPOSIBILITIES
- Understanding of the Event: You acknowledge the unique nature and demands of participating in an ultra-long distance trail running race, which involves running throughout the day and night across mountainous and hilly terrain. You confirm that you have undertaken the necessary training to compete in such an event.
- Self-Sufficiency: You are responsible for your own well-being and possess the ability to address any challenges that may arise during the race.
- Weather Preparedness: You are capable of independently managing deteriorating weather conditions, including low temperatures, strong winds, and rain, as well as other potential difficulties encountered in mountainous terrain.
- Physical and Mental Resilience: You are able to cope independently with extreme fatigue, potential internal organ and digestive issues, muscle pain, minor physical injuries, and psychological challenges.
- Awareness of Self-Reliance: You fully understand that your safety during this outdoor activity depends on your own skills and abilities.
RACE CANCELATIONS
The race organization reserves the right to change the date, shorten the course, or cancel the race due to the following circumstances:
- Weather Warnings: Official weather warnings issued by the meteorological agency.
- Safety Concerns: Inability to ensure runner safety due to risks such as landslides and rockfalls along the course.
- Natural Disasters: Natural disasters (or official warnings issued by BMKG – Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi Geofisika). In such cases, if the race course cannot be altered to safely continue, the race will not be postponed to a later date.
- Decision and Communication: The decision regarding race cancellation will be made on the day before or on the day of the race and will be communicated via the official race website.
- Force Majeure Events: In the event of an earthquake, hurricane/typhoon, flood, incidents, accidents, and/or epidemics, the race organization reserves the right to make judgments and decisions regarding shortening or canceling the race, as well as any potential refunds (including the amount and method of communication).
MEDICAL CERTIFICATE
- Participants must provide a health certificate confirming they are physically fit to participate in the race.
- The health certificate must be valid within two weeks prior to the race date and can be obtained from a local clinic, hospital, or doctor.
- Medical check services will also be available to participants during the Race Pack Collection day.
